A Life Dedicated to Community
Syed Rafi is one of Doha's most prominent and celebrated community organisers — a man whose passion for sports, music and culture has brought together tens of thousands of expatriates across Qatar under a shared sense of belonging.
An alumnus of Osmania University, Hyderabad, Syed Rafi built a distinguished professional career in media, having served as Operations Manager at Al Jazeera Channel and Al Jazeera Children's Channel, before channelling his energy into building community institutions that have become pillars of expatriate life in Qatar.
In 2014, driven by a belief that sport unifies people like nothing else, he founded Cric Qatar — which has grown into the largest cricket tournament organisation in Doha with 970+ registered teams and 23,000+ weekly players from five nations.
His mission expanded to the arts in 2021 with Doha Music Lovers — giving emerging singers and dancers a platform they had long been denied. With events like Voice of World drawing 650+ singers globally and Super Singer becoming a celebrated annual competition, the platform has touched thousands of lives.
With offices spanning Doha, Hyderabad, and now coming to Dubai, Syed Rafi continues to build bridges between communities through the universal languages of sport, music and culture.
Three Pillars
Founded in 2014, Cric Qatar is Doha's largest cricket organisation — running T20, Mega League, Mini League, Morning, Afternoon, Summer and Friday leagues across 970+ teams and 23,000+ weekly players from five nations.
Born from a conviction that local talent deserved a stage. From its 2021 launch, Doha Music Lovers has produced Mega Musical Nights, Super Singer and Voice of World — drawing 650+ singers from across the world.
Super Dancer Doha (Seasons 1, 2 & 3) and Rhythm Rise extend his vision into dance and cultural celebration — giving performers from across South Asia a world-class platform in the heart of Qatar.
